*Wild population contained single female. *Song/behavioral differences between birds of different origins prevented success. SOURCE POPULATION; Between August 2006 and April 2008, 26 kokako were released in the Hanua in four separate translocations. These came from 3 different source populations (in parenthesis), but all were relocated to Hanua ranges: 7 Aug 2006 (Mapara); 27 May 2007 (Tiritiri); 6 Oct 2007 (Waipapa); 16 Apr 2008 (Tiritiri Matangi).
