57 whiteheads were caught at Maungataniwha Pine Forest (10 males, 6 females = 16 TOTAL) and Boundary Stream Mainland Island (23 males, 18 females = 41 TOTAL) over 13 days between May 14, 2007 to May 22, 2007 and June 3, 2008 to September 23, 2008. 4 female birds died during holding and transfer. 2 died while being held in the aviary at Maugataniwha awaiting transfer. One from Boundary Stream died in the box during transit and a fourth Boundary Stream bird died shortly after release. This is indicated in the notes for each release event, as well as what source site the released whiteheads came from. A total of 53 whiteheads were successfully transferred and released at the Preserve. POST MONITORING: Whitehead have been detected in the autumn and spring 2008.
