separated into 3 forms that vary in plumage, size, range and habitat type. Bush breeds in North I. & NW South I. Southern breeds in Fiordland, Stewart I. & Auckland I. Eastern is found in open terrain on E. South I. HABITAT TYPE: depends on species. Bush falcons nest in unmodified habitat- eastern in modified habitat. AGE AT FIRST MATING: usually breed at 2, but females have been observed breeding at 1.
